From March 16–23, Brighter Story had the incredible privilege of traveling to Sonora, Mexico to serve in the village of Mocuzarit. It was a week marked by faith, encouragement, and the clear evidence of God’s grace at work.

Mocuzarit is a small village where there is currently no other Protestant church, yet the Lord has already been moving in powerful ways. Over recent months, many people there have come to faith in Jesus, and it was a blessing to witness firsthand how God is drawing hearts to Himself.

Although we were not able to build the church during this trip as originally hoped, the Lord opened many other meaningful doors for ministry. Sometimes God’s plans unfold differently than ours, but His purposes are always good. We saw success on many other fronts and came away deeply encouraged by what He is doing in this community.

Throughout the week, our team participated in children’s Bible clubs, literature distribution, evangelistic meetings, and personal fellowship with the people of Mocuzarit. These moments created opportunities to share the Gospel, strengthen relationships, and encourage the growing number of believers there. We saw open hearts, warm hospitality, and a real hunger for truth.

This trip was especially meaningful through the partnership of Joel and Stephanie Conner, along with Jorge from Mocuzarit, whose connection to the community made the ministry deeply personal. Their presence helped strengthen the bonds between our team and the people we had come to serve.

We are also deeply thankful for Cowboy Church, the sending church for this mission trip, whose financial support, prayers, and partnership made this journey possible. Their generosity is part of the story God is writing in Mocuzarit, and we are grateful for their heart for the Gospel.

One of the strongest reminders from this trip is that the work of God is not limited by our plans. Even when one door does not open the way we expected, the Lord is still moving. His light continues to shine in the darkness, and His grace continues to reach people in ways we cannot always foresee.

As Scripture says, “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” — 1 John 1:5

We invite you to watch the accompanying video to get a glimpse of what God is doing in Mocuzarit. Thank you for praying, supporting, and standing with us as we continue to share the hope of Christ.
