Divine Appointments in Mexico

Hello friends! We've been in Alamos, Mexico one week now and we've had many wonderful opportunities to reconnect with our brothers and sisters in Christ here as well as several of our old students from the children's home. We've had so many divine appointments that keep surprising us. Within 10 minutes of arriving at our rental house, an old friend we haven't seen in 17 years drove by, recognized us, and told us she is our neighbor here! What a blessing to have an old friend next door to help us figure things out...

The next day we drove to a bigger city one hour away and entered the first pharmacy we found, only to literally run into 2 of our old students! We got their numbers and they came over today with another old student and their kids to spend time together. None of them are very serious about their walk with the Lord, so pray for us as we encourage them.

After that, we went to Eli's aunt's house to say hi, and his birth mom (Mama Goya) who is usually really hard to find (she wanders around the city) was sitting right there as if waiting for us. I think in the dozens of times that I've driven there, she's only been there maybe 2-3 times! It was so sweet to see her so excited and happy to see Eli. I ended up taking Mama Goya to the hospital because she hurt her foot 2 months ago and it is still swollen. It turns out she broke it, but has been walking on it ever since. The only thing to do now is physical therapy to help get rid of the pain. I'll be taking her to therapy every week for a while. Thank you, Jesus, that we are here and able to help her!

Our last divine appointment came after 4 hours at the hospital when we went out for tacos. The lady at the check out didn't know it, but her mother-in-law is Eli's great aunt. (Keep in mind that this is a pretty big city and there are dozens and dozens of taco shops) Mama Goya recognized her and introduced us. I was really happy to get her info because I've been looking for someone in Eli's family who is older and might remember Eli's cousin who was also adopted to the US back in the 80's. This cousin found us through a DNA test and we are trying to help her reconnect with her birth family. God is good.

On Sunday we got to fellowship with believers in the nearby big city of Navojoa where Eli was born. It was a blessing, and they even asked Madeline to sing a solo! She loved it, obviously.

We also got to go to a Bible study with old friends in the little village of Mocuzarit, and we'll be doing a kids Bible club there Saturday, followed by a showing of the Chosen when the sun goes down. Please be praying for that! We want to teach and show the kids and adults who Jesus really is, that He is Love and that He died and rose again to Save them!

Thank you so much for praying for us. God is truly directing our steps.
