Brighter Story

Sharing Jesus, The light of the world with vulnerable children and families

Our Journey Together

Brighter Story is a Christian mission founded by Joel and Stephanie Conner. The heart of the mission is to serve those often overlooked—especially individuals with special needs and young adults aging out without support.

The mission begins in Sonora Mexico, where Brighter Story is building relationships rooted in grace, dignity, and long-term presence. Rather than short-term relief alone, the vision is to bring the light and hope of Jesus, inviting them into the extended family of God—offering mentorship, life skills, spiritual encouragement, and adventure-shaped opportunities that equip individuals for a successful, hope-filled life.

Our Mission

Bringing the light of Christ to the least of these.

The Light To The Least

Even in wealthy western countries, many with special needs are marginalized and neglected—imagine how much worse things are in impoverished rural areas of poor countries. Meeting these needs is complex, but the rewards are profound. When the light of Christ shines into a community's heart and they witness care for special needs modeled with love, it becomes a beautiful testimony that transforms how they see both the vulnerable and the heart of The Father in action.

Extended Family Support For Those Aging Out

No matter how great a children's home is, kids who age out still need what institutions can't fully provide—family, support, and belonging. This transition is often filled with uncertainty about their future and the relationships they've built. That's why connecting them with mentors and supportive adults is crucial—people who can walk alongside them through this pivotal stage, offering guidance, encouragement, and occasional financial assistance when critical needs arise. These relationships ensure they know they're valued, loved, and never alone.

Moments that shine with hope and belonging

What We Do

Supporting vulnerable children and young adults with care and hope.

Discipleship

Making disciples only happen with close, life on life relationships. Transformation that lasts a life time doesn't come through a program. It has to be instilled with much patience and determination.

Life Skills

Teaching practical skills for independent living including providing vocational and soft skills to help open the doors for financial stability a the hope for a brighter story.

Hope For Least Of These

Raising two special need children and adopting three and having worked with the abused and abandoned for years, the Conners have a heart for loving those that were unable to advocate for themselves.
